Volunteer Opportunities

CDS has lots of opportunities for community volunteers who want to give their time and talents to help staff and families at CDS. Our volunteers must be at least 15 years old to help out in the CDS facility. Also, volunteering within a health facility requires certain pre-qualifications. To give you a better understanding of the application and orientation procedures, we can provide you with an overview of what is expected from our volunteers. Here are our current volunteer opportunities: 

Media Center
• Volunteers needed to assist parents and children in the CDS library, to create displays for library bulletin boards and to help promote library resources in the lobby.
• Duties include keeping materials inventoried and organized, re-shelving books, and answering questions for patrons. Volunteers who are interested can also help create displays, promote resources for families and offer to read books to children in the library or the lobby between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The Wonder Center
• Volunteers work with wonderful staff to care for children with special medical needs.  
• Hours of operation are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

General Clerical Work
• Help is needed during all regular business hours in various CDS departments.
• BabyNet has need for help with filing and other clerical duties during regular business hours.

Babysitters/Support Group Helpers
• Needed for evening Family Connection support groups.
• Contact our Staff Assistant for details.

Building and Grounds Helpers
• Volunteers needed on an on-call basis to perform light repairs and maintenance in the CDS building.
• Volunteers needed to assist with CDS grounds beautification projects.
