Thanks to the Mackie Rogers Agency, CDS now has a new logo to reflect its vision: to ensure that each child with special developmental needs reaches his or her full potential. Cammie Mackie, president of the Mackie Rogers Agency, donated agency time and talent to the new logo to honor the 60th birthday of her father, Champ Covington, and her firm belief in the mission of CDS. The new logo expresses the belief shared by partners at CDS that professionals working together can help individuals with any type of special need to truly reach for the stars. Family Cuts Ribbon to New Playground at CDS The children of the Center for Developmental Services (CDS) now have a new playground, thanks to the generosity of Ashley and Lindsay Bickerstaff. Over a year ago, CDS announced Ashley and Lindsay’s gift of $75,000 to fund the design and construction of a high-tech, handicapped accessible playground. The Bickerstaffs were motivated to support CDS because their now 3-year-old son, Neill, visits CDS for developmental therapies. The playground was dedicated on April 14, 2004 in honor of Neill and in memory of Ashley's father, Bob Murphy, Jr. Children in the classrooms and Wonder Center day treatment program located at CDS use the playground for recreation and activities. It is also used for therapies and treatment by other children and professionals at CDS. | CDS Unveils Elevated Train and Thanks
Sponsors Thanks to grants received from generous donors, CDS started the "CDS Star Express" elevated train in October. Children are happy to see the train when they visit the center, and the linked cars remind us of how CDS links partner agencies and the community to help families affected by developmental delays and disabilities. Funders include BI-LO, Hollingsworth Funds, The Junior League of Greenville and Piedmont Healthcare Foundation. To read more details and quotes from the event, click here. |
The "CDS Star Express" displays the logos of our six partner agencies and the four funders that paid for new lobby toys and for the train. |
